Fantastic apartment - did not disappoint
Reviewed July 2023
We had a fabulous stay in this lovely apartment. Very spacious and clean with lots of homely touches. The welcome pack was great too. Location couldn't have been better - close to lots of great restaurants and the beautiful lake. Highly recommend visiting the friendly bakery opposite for your morning pastry. Nothing was too much trouble for the house manager who welcomed us so warmly. Great communication with the owner too. 10/10 for our holiday experience.

"Everything you could need for a great holiday"
Reviewed 22 July 2022
St Gilgen is a beautiful town on the lake - it has everything you need for a wonderful holiday - lots of walks from the door, plenty of cafes and restaurants to choose from (we particularly liked Nilus Portofino by the lake), easy access to the ferry boats across the lake to St Wolfgang etc. The apartment itself is even better than expected - we found it very spacious for 3 adults and everything has been thought about to make your stay easy. Even on hot days we found the apartment stayed cool if we closed all the windows and curtains before going out, and the balcony was shaded by mid afternoon. The owners, Jacqui and Terry, are really helpful as is the house manager who lives just upstairs. We would not hesitate to recommend the apartment and we will definitely be returning in the future!

"Amazing apartment in a quiet location in beautiful St Gilgen”
Reviewed 23 Sep 2019
This is a nicely furnished, clean apartment in the centre of the village with parking close by. It has a well equipped kitchen for those who like to cook - there is a local butcher in Farchen which is 10 minutes drive away where you can get amazing sausages. There is Netflix available on the TV and a great range of dvds which we really appreciated on the one rainy afternoon we had during our visit. The apartment is on the second floor with no lift but we are in our late 50s and managed to carry our cases up the stairs. The benefit of being on the second floor is the balcony which allows you to enjoy the amazing mountain view whilst enjoying a glass of local wine. The booking process was very smooth and the owner responded quickly to our questions as they arose. Check in and out was well organised as we had the contact number for the gentleman who was to meet us on arrival. He was very helpful not only showing us where everything was in the apartment but also giving a lot of local information. This is a lovely area to visit especially if you have a car as St Gilgen is ideally located for exploring the region. If you decide to visit the area then I can highly recommend a stay in this apartment. When we return we will definitely stay here.

“Nice apartment, handy location!”

Well equipped two bedroomed apartment ideal for couples or families with children. The apartment is centrally located in the village of St Gilgen and the lakeside is within easy walk distance. The property has a long narrow balcony overlooking the mountain which benefits from early morning sunshine and is shaded when the day is at its hottest. There is adequate seating available although could benefit from some comfortable cushions if sitting out for any length of time. Spacious room sizes with a good range of DVDs, books and games to keep you amused if the weather is bad. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you would need if self catering. There are plenty of restaurants and cafes within the locality. The owner is easy to deal with through the pre-booking process to the end of stay. Recommended for anybody looking for an apartment accommodation within St Gilgen!

“Comfortable, convenient and well equipped”
Reviewed 15 May 2018
St Gilgen is a perfect place for a walking holiday. It is picture perfect and beautiful scenery surrounds you. The apartment is very conveniently situated in the village within easy reach of all amenities and a short walk to the supermarket. It is very well equipped, especially the kitchen for those who like to cater for themselves with everything you need for a perfect stay. The beds are comfortable, and there is plenty of storage space, the only thing that could help would be blackout curtains as it was so bright. It was lovely to be met from the bus and shown around the apartment. A perfect holiday.
Owner's reply: Thank you for your very welcome review of the apartment. We strive to ensure that all of our guests have a wonderful time and always look at ways of improving their stay. We take on board your comments about black-outs, the design of the tilt and turn doors and windows make it difficult to resolve easily. We are still looking at options.

“Warm, spacious, comfortable, apartment in ideal location”
Reviewed 11 Feb 2018
This beautiful apartment was situated in the centre of the lovely village of St Gilgen, close to restaurants ( there is a fab one almost next door), supermarket, lake, and bus stops. In summer the ferries provide transport on the lake, but in winter there is still a good bus service and we have never seen the need for a car. It is easy to travel from Salzburg Airport using two buses. This was our third visit to St Gilgen, but our first in winter, and our first to this apartment. This was by far the best apartment and the one we would choose when returning. It was warm, with lots of hot water, and a bath with shower over. The kitchen facilities were brilliant and I could have been far more adventurous in preparing meals. Communication when booking was easy, and we were met and shown round the apartment on arrival. Would highly recommend taking a holiday here, at any time of year.

“A jewel in Sankt Gilgen.”
Reviewed 10 Jun 2017
Karina very kindly met us at the bus stop and took us to the apartment at some inconvenience to herself for which we were very grateful. Sankt Gilgen Village Apartment is delightful. It is a first floor apartment in an excellent position situated in the centre of the village, perfect for exploring the area. There is a balcony which offers wonderful mountain views with the Schafberg taking a dominant centre stage. The accommodation is spotless with a large lounge and a door leading directly onto the balcony. The bathroom has both a bath and a shower and the two bedrooms also have direct access to the balcony with plenty of wardrobe space. The kitchen is compact and well facilitated with a window which looks out to the mountains. The wonderful Wolfgangsee is a short walk from the apartment and the regular Hop on Hop Off boat trips take you to places which are ideal for walks, cycling and visits to picturesque villages especially St Wolfgang which is a mere 35 mins away. Do stop off at the Schafbergbahn and take the cog railway to the top of the mountain. Awesome! For €20 each for the round boat trip it's a bargain. The bus and train links to other parts of the Salzgammergut are excellent and reliable. Hallstatt is a must visit. To get there, take the bus from St Gilgen to Bad Ischl Bahnhof, a train to Hallstatt station then a ferry will take you towards the mountain hugging village. Sankt Gilgen itself is clean, quiet and and has several restaurants which are all of a high standard and reasonably priced. You must try the salads... yes salads! They are tastier than you can imagine. The combination of this beautiful location and excellent accommodation makes for a perfect holiday in the Salzkammergut area, we cannot recommend it highly enough. Sent from my iPad

We had a fantastic holiday staying at this apartment. We travelled with our two children a 4 year old and a 9 months baby. We flew to Salzburg and got the bus to St Gilgen which was very easy. Apartment was easy to find and close to all amenities in St Gilgen which was great with little ones. The apartment has no lift but we managed with the pushchair up the stairs, apartment is on 2nd floor. It's worth it for the convenient location and a 2nd floor balcony. The welcome was great and the apartment is so well equipped it was like home from home. Lots of little touches that made things really easy and relaxed. For babies, cot, high chair, pushchair all provided. Plenty of books, puzzles and DVDs for rainy days or quieter moments. Kitchen very well equipped, and with complimentary items. Great space and storage. Great views of the Schafberg from the living room and balcony. There is also a super family friendly restaurant next door. We've rarely stayed in such a well equipped and well thought out apartment and would thoroughly recommend it, young children or not.

Lovely property and excellently furnished. Contains plenty of very useful information about the area. It would be useful to be armed with a detailed street map, especially if you arrive after dark as we did!

We always provide the apartment address and contact details for the person who is meeting the guest, and she is able to give directions also.

The lakeside is only a couple of minutes walk away through this charming village and there are numerous cafes and restaurants and a large Spar in St Gilgen. It is a good base to explore the local area - the beautiful towns of St Wolfgang and Mondsee are close - or travel into Salzburg, which is fabulous and has many excellent attractions. Reviewed 23 Apr 2013
5-11th April 2013 - Stayed with our youngest daughter and my wife. Friendly, well organised meet and great service. We rendezvoused in the night at an easily found location and followed on to the apartment. Were pleased at the central location and the apartment space and tidiness. Out of season and found that most the eateries in the village had or were closing by 9pm, but did manage to find a Pizza in a local cafe/bar. Later in the stay found a nice restaurant on the side of the lake that opens every day except Monday. This was really friendly, had great views and was only a 5 min. enjoyable walk from the apartment. Closer, just across form the apartment is the local bakery/cafe - a great place for breakfast and fresh bread. Can recommend the cable car ride from the village. 22 euro per person could seem high but it is well worth it on a good day. We were pleased with the apartment. It had nice views [especially from the balcony], was warm, well equipped and would happily recommend it too friends and family.

A memorable holiday, once again. The apartment is airy, comfortable, well-equipped and conveniently-located. The two bedrooms are roomy and comfortable with plenty of storage. The kitchen has everything you might need for self-catering and the nearby baker is tremendous. The Spar at the top of the village is more than adequate and there are other options nearby. Eating out opportunities are plentiful and varied. The area is ideal for any kind of outdoor activity as well as for simply lazing by the lake(s). The Postalm valley at the far end of Wolfgansee is not to be missed. Access from Munich Airport is straightforward, although returning to Munich on a Sunday can take longer than suggested. Overall, a fabulous holiday experience which we could not recommend too highly.

“Great Memories of St Gilgen Village Apartment”
Reviewed 13 Jan 2012
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this apartment. We lived there for 3 months and I really enjoyed it. It's modern yet cosy and perfect for a small family (we were 2 adults and a toddler). Every kind of kitchen utensil you would need is there, modern appliances and even cook books! (if you're into that sort of thing). The living room has lovely big leather sofas and a flat screen TV...even tonnes of english dvds to watch! The apartment is located slap bang in the centre of St Gilgen. The apartment block even has a "Schlecker" downstairs...a shop which sells everything from Cosmetics to coffee milk. There is also an organic bakery 10 steps from the apartment and a small spar, 5 mins walk away. Speaking of walks, in St Gilgen you have a choice of 2 fabulous walks either side of the lake...both with breathtaking views (see the pics) and fabulous for an early morning jog/walk (again if you're into that sort of thing!). The only down sides for me was that the communal washing machine didn't seem to work properly and if you didn't put enough money in, it would stop mid cycle...but I'm sure it has been fixed since then (this was Jan - March 2010). For people with reduced mobility, there are 3 small flights of stairs and no lift (but you have a nicer view). The parking is also down the road a bit. But other than these minor things I would highly recommend it and the owners are very friendly and helpful.
